The AHB Inpulse One was first shown in March 1984 at a trade show, and was advertised in musical instrument and studio trade magazines for several months afterwards despite experiencing ongoing technical difficulties that delayed it from going into full production. By the time it was released near the end of 1984, the electronic drum pad/drum machine was facing competition from many similar devices from North America and Japan, and with a price tag of nearly two thousand pounds the Inpulse One struggled to attract interest from leading music equipment stores and from musicians.Around 75-109 Inpulse One units are believed to have been manufactured in total, one of the rare failures for the Allen & Heath company that is better known for their high-quality studio mixing desks. This special edition publication consists of text from the original first edition of the manual, along with additional diagrams and text on the control panels of the unit, and information on the eleven cassette data tapes of drum and percussion sounds that could be loaded into RAM on the Inpulse One. A section on servicing and repair features full-colour photographs of the circuit boards, and there is also a short history of the Inpulse One. Read more
